Managing member Paul Herschell started Cherokee Construction Services in 2003 after years of exposure to the industry through the Herschell-owned company, Cherokee General Corporation. Paul first entered the business working summers and weekends during high school and college. This “ground-up” hands-on education and mentoring has given Paul the experience to manage every facet of a full-service construction firm. From its inception, even prior to Rhonda and Vince Herschell’s retirement and sale of Cherokee General Corporation, Cherokee Construction Services has been and continues to be an independently run and standalone company focused on being value driven, customer oriented and versatile.

Cherokee Construction Services entered the federal government arena with the 8(a) certification from the Small Business Administration in 2005. The 8(a) contracting vehicle has opened opportunities with the US Army Corps of Engineers, General Services Administration, Department of Veteran Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish & Wildlife and US Forest Service. Executing projects for federal agencies has helped us develop solid internal protocols and procedures for project management, quality control and project safety.

Our work initially was focused on environmental construction and operations & maintenance on mechanical systems. Our expansion into a full-service general contractor was a natural, intentional progression and in response to our clients’ needs.

Today, Cherokee Construction Services, led by Paul Herschell, has established itself as a premier design-build firm. The team has demonstrated itself as a “proven performer” in the construction industry and is developing an impressive list of substantial repeat clients – in both the public and private sectors. We have attracted quality, experienced personnel who share our core values. Our structure and size affords us the capacity to be highly responsive to our clients and to be flexible as fast-track projects dictate quick decisions. Together, the team has been instrumental in facilitating Cherokee’s growth and the building of a solid reputation.
